JACKSONVILLE/LYNNVILLE, ILLINOIS

This EEO Public File Report is filed in Stations WLDS-AM/WEAI-FM public inspection file pursuant to Section 73.2080 (c ) (6) of the Federal Communications Commission's ("FCC") rules.

The information contained in this report covers the time period beginning August 1, 2006, and continuing through July 31, 2007.

During this period, the WLDS/WEAI News Department finalized the hiring of an Assistant News Director to fill a vacancy that first occured in early June of 2006. Also during this period, WEAI-FM filled one full-time vacancy.

Our 2006 EEO Statement gave details of the search for a WLDS/WEAI Assistant News Director and stated that one of the applicants for the position had been offered the job but had not started employment here. That process was concluded August 3, 2006, when Kevin Baxter began his employment with WLDS/WEAI as Assistant News Director.

The WEAI-FM vacancy involved a staff announcer position. The opening occured during the first part of July, 2007, and was filled late in the month. Twenty-three applications were received as a result of the opening being advertised on the WLDS/WEAI website, the Jacksonville Journal-Courier newspaper, on-air over WEAI, plus letters being sent to Illinois College, MacMurray College and Lewis & Clark Community College. Eight persons were selected to receive in-person interviews. The on-air identity of the person is Ed Steele, who accepted the position in late July and will officially fill the position on August 13, 2007.

Attachment A contains a list and brief description of the Outreach Prong 3 menu options undertaken pursuant to the FCC's EEO rules during the time period covered by this report.

EEO Public File Report

For Stations WLDS-AM/WEAI-FM

During the time period of August 1, 2006 to July 31, 2007, stations WLDS-AM and WEAI-FM undertook the following Outreach Prong 3 menu options pursuant to the FCC's EEO rules:

1)  Co-sponsored a Career & Job Expo with the local office of the Illinois Department of Employment Security, an agency with substantial participation of women and minorities. The event was held on April 12, 2007, in the Education Complex of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL.  Upwards of 100 employer groups (including WLDS/WEAI) set up exhibits, staffed their positions, distributed informational pieces and answered many questions from the hundreds of job seekers who attended the event.  WLDS-AM and WEAI-FM accepted a number of job applications.

2)    Continued an internship program that was established during 2003, which is designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.  At two seperate intervals during the time period of August 2006 through July 2007, WLDS/WEAI employed and paid two such interns to work part-time at WLDS/WEAI in areas that included receptionist/administrative assistant and announcing.
