The Central Prairie Chapter of the organization will hold a session at its 700 North Prairie offices on Tuesday, February 19th from 6 to 7 p.m. for residents in Morgan, Scott, Greene and Cass Counties.

There is no advance sign-up required, and a volunteer commitment isn’t necessary.

Local volunteer opportunities include office volunteers, community disaster preparedness education presenters, special event volunteers, disaster action team members and development volunteers.

The Red Cross says it responds immediately to about 70,000 natural and man—made disasters in the U.S., ranging from fires, to hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents and explosions.
