Red cross holding classes this week
The classes will train participants on how to deliver assistance and hope through client casework on the premise that communities and families turn to the Red Cross for help after a disaster.
Participants will learn how to interview, assess and assist each disaster victim according go to their personal situation and needs.
The Red Cross aims to help disaster victims by providing safe shelter, hot meals, essential relief supplies, emotional support and health services like first aid. Trained workers often meet one-on-one with families to develop individual plans and identify available resources to help aid recovery.
The classes are free. Part one is Tuesday, with the second part on Wednesday at the Central Prairie Chapter office at 700 North Prairie in Jacksonville. Both classes are from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Advanced registration is encouraged to ensure adequate number of course materials.
