Foul play not suspected in Jax man's death
Lair says the 50-year-old man was found at his home in the 700 block of East Douglas at about 11:30 by Jacksonville Police, who responded to a call from a concerned neighbor. The neighbor reportedly told police she’d been smelling the decomposed remains for about a week.
Lair says no foul play is suspected in the man’s death, though accidental death isn’t being ruled out at this point. He says the man, who lived by himself, had medication that indicates he suffered from a seizure disorder.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Lair is withholding the man’s name pending notification of next of kin. The name is expected to be released later today.
